It’s been quite funny to read the Valencian press lately, because despite all the excitement for the very good season the club are having so far, the general feeling is that they have to be prepared for bad things ahead.
The plan to take things easily is mentioned by Super Deporte, who claim the club’s manager and board have already decided that a few signings may be needed in January so the squad can remain strong.
One of the names on the table Pablo Maffeo, a Manchester City youngster who has been spending a loan spell at Spanish side Girona.
A few days ago, the same website had already reported that Valencia have their eyes on the Manchester City youngster, and had even made contacts with the Premier League side to become aware of the conditions of a possible transfer.
Super Deporte claims that if the opportunity shows up in January, Valencia will do what is needed, and it has already been agreed between board memers Anil Murthy, Mateu Alemany and manager Marcelino.
We still find it unlikely that Manchester City will simply sell a 20-year-old who has been doing well during his loan spell, especially in the January window. But all this confidence coming from the Valencian media suggests a different scenario.
