Mario Mandzukic and Manchester United isn’t going anywhere.
The 33 year old hasn’t represented Juventus this season in Serie A and isn’t even in the club’s Champions League squad. September is the last time he made the bench, yet the Turin club’s efforts to force him to accept a move to Qatar didn’t come to anything.
An exit in January looks nailed on, and it’s still Manchester United who are the club most linked, by quite some way. Others have come and gone, yet the Red Devils pop up in almost every story about the striker’s future.
Il Bianconero takes a look at potential January exits from Juventus, and Mandzukic is the number one. A ‘concrete offer’ from Manchester United is said to remain in place, and the Croatian has ‘practically accepted’ the move despite dithering at first.
A problem standing in the way is the transfer fee.
Juve, somehow, think they can ask for €10m for a player they’re not using, have tried to force out, and who is getting close to the end of his career.
Meanwhile, the English club would prefer to pay something more like a token fee, around a couple of million Euros.
Il Bianconero suggests they could meet somewhere in the middle, with a figure of €5.4m meaning Juventus won’t make an accounting loss on the player.
