Alvaro Morata returning to Juventus continues to pop up here and there in the Italian media after being launched a week or so ago.
Having a difficult season with Chelsea, Morata scored on Sunday against Southampton to lift the gloom somewhat, but that won’t do anything to slow down the transfer rumours, especially with the window getting closer.
Rai Sport report, via Calciomercato, that would could be a problem is the player’s £160k per week wages. Whilst getting the player back to Turin is described as a ‘concrete idea’, money would be the issue.
‘Economic reasons’ would slow Juventus interest, and whilst it isn’t mentioned, a big part of that is surely the size of transfer fee Chelsea would ask for.
If the club were tempted to sell Morata this summer then they’re hardly going to accept a huge loss on the player. And without that, it wouldn’t appear such an attractive proposition for Juventus.
Things aren’t quite as terrible for Morata at Chelsea as the recent slant would have people believe, so another season in London is probably best for all parties.
