Concern for Watford and player as good period ended with unfortunate tibia break

Obbi Oulare is currently on loan at Standard Liege from Watford with a purchase option.

His start at the club was difficult, putting into question a permanent deal before he even got started. Carrying an injury from the previous campaign, Oulare had to undergo surgery and then battle his way through rehabilitation.

Returning at the end of November, Oulare got his first start, against Sint-Truiden, and scored, helping Standard get a 1-1 draw.

Afterwards he said: “The feeling is there again. A big relief after all those months. I’ve had a hard time mentally. I was just doing well at Antwerp and then I had to undergo surgery.”

In his next match, against Akhisarspor is the Europa League, the Watford owned player lasted just six minutes.

In a collision with the opposition goalkeeper, Oulare suffered a tibia fracture, and a sprained shoulder for good measure, reports Belgium’s Het Nieuwsblad.

The positive slant is that it’s a clean break and surgery won’t be required, with the player expected to be out for six to eight weeks, which certainly sounds optimistic.

The 22 year old has arrived back in Belgium in a wheelchair, with his leg already in plaster.

It’s bad news for Oulare, Standard, and Watford’s future chances of that permanent deal.
