Liverpool owned Marko Grujic this week found himself in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week after a very good performance for Hertha Berlin against Eintracht Frankfurt, a match in which he scored the only goal of the game.
Bild labelled the 22 year old a ‘midfield boss’, and quoted coach Pal Dardai as saying: “I’ve been with Hertha for 22 years. This is no insult to the others, but Marko is by far the best midfielder I’ve seen at Hertha during this period.”
The player has done excellently since returning in November from an ankle injury, and that’s why it’s got to be hugely frustrating that he’s again picked up an ankle issue.
Last time it was the right ankle, this time the left.
Kicker report the youngster had to leave Hertha training on Tuesday after being caught up in a tackle.
Dardai is quoted as saying: “It was in the training game today which was like a match day. Both teams were very aggressive and passionate about it, and Vladi (Vladimir Darida, who was involved in the incident) was extremely aggressive today, and that’s what I wish from him.The situation with Marko was unfortunate and we have to wait and see.”
Kicker say the extent of the injury is unknown and tests should reveal the full problem and give an idea about the player’s time out.
Liverpool will surely be keeping a close eye on the situation, and Hertha Berlin will have to inform the Anfield club about the diagnosis and prognosis.
