Following reports from England saying Aston Villa are interested in the signing of Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Betancur, the Italian media now shows up with not so optimistic updates about the chances of a move.
Journalist Alessio Lento, from Calcio Mercato, comes up on Twitter to say the operation is ‘complicated’.
It’s claimed that to take Betancur away from the Old Lady, any interested clubs would need to make a ‘very important offer’, which has not been made by Aston Villa so far.
Lento claims this is still a ‘situation to be monitored’ while the Premier League side don’t make their concrete move for the 24-year-old.
Steven Gerrard is said to be looking for a midfielder for the rest of the season, and Betancur’s name emerged in the rumour mill in the past couple of days.
The midfielder has 26 appearances for Juventus this season, having started five Champions League games, and it’s no surprise that the Bianconeri won’t let him just leave easily in the middle of the season.
