Loaned to Udinese for the second half of the 2021-22 campaign, Pablo Marí returns to Arsenal a new man.
The Spaniard did well with the Serie A side, impressing those around him, and he now has new suitors willing to keep him in Italy.
One of those are Hellas Verona, with Corriere di Verona revealing ‘the first goal for the defence is Pablo Marí’.
The Serie A side ‘continue negotiations to bring the Spaniard’ to their town, and an agreement with Arsenal ‘is complicated but possible’.
As things stand, ‘the obstacle to overcome is Marí’s salary’, who earns around £1.5m/year.
That’s where Arsenal would step in, as the Gunners ‘have opened to the idea of contributing to the payment of the sum, largely covering the defender’s wages’.
This would be a welcome boost for Verona, clearly keen on the centre-back, who made 15 appearances in Serie A during the second half of the campaign, scoring two goals.
With a contract at the Emirates expiring in 2024, Arsenal still have some time to decide what to do with him, and if he can repeat his Udinese feat in Verona, then perhaps next year could see a nice little sum arriving in their coffers.
