On September 7th, we relayed news from Italy that Chelsea and Juventus are in the mix for RC Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra.
Fast forward to October and Calciomercato have a report on the potential battle between Chelsea and the Serie A side to sign the midfielder.
Diarra made his way into the Ligue 1 side’s first team in 2021 after spending three years with their academy. His deal lasts until 2027 and claims have talked about Strasbourg wanting to offer him a new contract.
Calciomercato state Strasbourg aren’t planning to renew the 19-year-old’s contract to retain him for a long time, but instead to get a better price. They add a transfer in January is not on the cards.
It’s said the Old Lady are carefully monitoring his situation as an ‘absolutely interested’ party, despite knowing that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have a ‘privileged channel’ for a potential deal. That’s because of Chelsea shareholder Todd Boehly, who also holds power in Strasbourg.
Strasbourg manager Patrick Vieria has admitted that Diarra had a complicated time after the club rejected Wolverhampton Wanderers’ bid in the last window. Wolves are still said to be chasing the player.
