The Portuguese media continues to report Sporting’s wish to sign Islam Slimani back from Leicester City this summer.

It’s newspaper A Bola who has a piece on the subject today, saying the striker’s word will be decisive when the time for a transfer comes.

The outlet says the Lions aren’t alone in the race. They report the interest from Marseille, and take claims from England to say Burnley are in for Slimani as well.

So first thing for Sporting would be to beat the competition. Then they need the player to lower his salary, since they can’t afford what he makes at Leicester City.

A Bola believes this is a decisive time for Slimani’s future, since his contract with Leicester expires in 2021. They say the Foxes are demanding at least €10m for the transfer.

Slimani played for Sporting for three seasons, scoring 57 goals in 111 appearances for the club. But he couldn’t show all this potential when featuring for Leicester City, and that’s why he’s been having spells at Newcastle United, Fenerbahce and now Monaco.
