Last week, a couple of reports from Italy claimed Bari have reached an agreement with Leeds United for the transfer of Elia Caprile.

Following the goalkeeper’s loan spell at Pro Patria, he ended up impressing other local clubs, with the Galletti moving fast to win the race for his signing.

Even though the transfer hasn’t been made official yet, the Italian media take it as pretty much done, and today interviewed an official to talk about it.

Outlet Tutto Bari had a word with Pro Patria director Sandro Turotti. He claimed this was a very good deal for Bari, who will have a goalkeeper who shows great potential.

“I was immediately very happy. It’s the right path for the boy, he’s ready for this category. I hope he can be appreciated as he was by us, and that the Bari fans are happy about it,” said Turotti.

“He went to England as a kid and after a while the pandemic broke out. He lived alone away from his family without knowing the language. He has great character. Just think that in the third match with us against Juventus U23 he saved a penalty. Leeds made us wait to make him available, because they lacked a goalkeeper and they would not free him. I remember then that he arrived on a Monday, and on Wednesday we had a friendly match. After a day and a half, he was already calling everyone by name, because he had studied all his teammates without knowing anyone. This shows his marked professionalism.”

Elia Caprile signed for Leeds United in 2020, and only had one season with the club’s U23 squad before being loaned to Pro Patria and now sold to Bari.

The Italian media continues not to report any details regarding how much the Serie B club are paying the Whites.

“It’s an operation to be commended. In recent weeks, various teams have called me to ask me for an opinion on the boy. Bari was immediately decisive. In football, then, you have to be awake and understand when it’s time to do certain operations.”
