While James Rodriguez continues to prepare for his debut at Al-Rayyan, the Colombian press continues giving big coverage to this new step in his career.
Local outlets had been on the money since the player travelled from England to Qatar, and were the first to report that he’d indeed left Everton after one season at the club.
Now since the figures for this move were never made clear, journalist Pipe Sierra now brings an exclusive story about this.
According to him and Mohamed Delgazar, Al-Rayyan did not pay Everton a fee for the move, even though James still had a contract with the Toffees.
As previously reported, the midfielder hadn’t cost Everton a transfer fee when joining the club from Real Madrid last year either, so this is the second time he’s released by a club. In his only season with the Toffees, he had six goals and nine assists in 26 appearances.
Rodriguez is still to get in his best physical shape, and that’s why, once again, he was left out of Colombia’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers’ fixtures.
