In the past few days, we’ve been covering a couple of stories from the South American media about interest from Crystal Palace in River Plate striker Rafael Santos Borré.

Claims from the Argentine press have said the London side made first contact with the player’s entourage as they try to take him to Europe in the summer window.

Now although it looked like a new rumour which could only grow, reports from Colombia today don’t show much confidence about it.

El Deportivo claims that although Crystal Palace have been linked to the player ‘in the past few hours’, this option has been ‘losing strength’.

The outlet writes that the Premier League side are not used to making these ‘exorbitant investments’, and that’s why Borré is staying at River Plate for now.

Although Crystal Palace’s interest in Borre could be true or false, it still sounds a little bit early to dismiss the rumour, since his €30m release clause is not such a big deal for a Premier League side.
