Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso is an ‘old obsession’ for Napoli, according to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Serie A side are planning a revolution in the next window, after struggling this season as champions.
They are looking to strengthen their midfield and the Tottenham player, Shakhtar Donetsk star Giorgi Sudakov and Real Betis’ Guido Rodríguez have been identified as targets.
Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has Sudakov on top of his wish list, while his side are working on trying to sign the Argentine duo.
Rodríguez’s contract lasts until the end of this season and the Naples club won’t have to invest a fee for his signing. The report claims the Real Betis player would be more of an alternative to Stanislav Lobotka, if the Slovakian were to leave Napoli.
Coming back to Lo Celso, Gazzetta state the Italian club tried signing him last summer, after he returned from a loan spell at Villarreal.
The 28-year-old has seen his playing time limited this season and more so in this calendar year. He isn’t pleased with his situation at Tottenham, according to the report. Lo Celso’s deal lasts until 2025 and the newspaper states his situation at Spurs would ‘cause the collapse of the price tag’.
Napoli are carrying out work to try to sign Lo Celso and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy may be wise to sell in the next window, after first trying to drum up as much interest as possible.
