In these trying times it’s always nice to hear a feel-good story and the one for today involves a coach and his dream to see Tottenham Hotspur play.
This story comes courtesy of Aftenbladet, with the coach in question one Jarle Eike, who currently manages Valen IL.
They celebrated winning the league championship in division 6 at the weekend after 13 wins in 16 games and a whopping 59 games scored across the campaign.
They sadly can’t enjoy promotion as many would because their A-team play in the division above but that’s not stopping the celebrations, particularly when they’ve also picked up another four titles this year and still in the running for a further two.
It’s proving to be a superb final year for Eike, who is set to step down from his role as head coach.
The party at the weekend was thus a perfect time to celebrate him too, and his players and the club took the opportunity to do so, putting the entire fine box for the campaign towards a special gift.
That gift was a trip to London to see Tottenham, who the coach is a fan of and wishes to see ‘at close range’. That wish has now been granted via his players; a gift that left him lost for words.
“I have chills all over my body over the gift I received from the players. Absolutely insane!” Aftonbladet report him saying to the club’s official website.
“Totally unexpected and touching! It proves what an incredible bunch they are. I’m speechless.
“I am eternally grateful to have been able to work with the great people in the support staff and the players. A unique bunch!”
