Anderlecht do ‘not take into account’ that Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha will remain at the club next season.
That’s according to Voetbal Belgie, who say the Belgian side’s top goalscorer is likely to return to the Etihad after his loan spell.
Nmech has spent this season on loan with Vincent Kompany and co and impressed, scoring 13 goals in 28 games in the Jupiler Pro League.
He’s also made an impression on the international stage, and that has shortened Anderlecht’s chances of keeping him for another year considerably.
Voetbal Belgie report they believe they will see the 22-year-old leave in the summer after he ‘made a name for himself’ this season because they simply ‘cannot afford’ to sign him from Manchester City permanently.
Indeed, they’ve already given up on any sort of deal and are already chasing a replacement in the shape of Thomas Henry.
The 26-year-old Frenchman has 20 goals in 28 games for OH Leuven this season, and Anderlecht would like him.
The one problem, however, are Leuven’s demands, which will be more than the €3.5m Henry is currently valued at.
Either way, Nmecha looks like he will be returning to Manchester City, although whether he will stay there in the post Sergio Agüero era remains to be seen.
