For Naby Keita, the Liverpool adventure hasn’t quite gone to plan.
Arriving in a very expensive £50m+ deal from RB Leipzig in 2018, the midfielder played well in his first season, but the 2019-20 campaign has been very different.
Appearing just 18 times in all competitions, with only nine of those (four starts) coming in the Premier League, the Guinea international will be hoping for a bit more game time over the next few weeks as English football makes a comeback after a two month forced hiatus.
If he doesn’t, then questions will be asked about his future at Anfield, and some clubs have already started sniffing around.
That’s according to Le10 Sport, who claim that (so far) unnamed German sides have held talks behind the scenes ‘to take the temperature’ ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
That’ being said, it’s made clear any exit from Anfield would be expensive, and only a ‘Bayern Munich’ or a ‘Borussia Dortmund’ could really think about bringing the player back to the Bundesliga.
However, and it’s an important one, the website do also state Keita ‘is still in Jürgen Klopp’s plans’, as the German manager ‘is a fan of his profile and many qualities’.
