Mikel Arteta has left Matteo Guendouzi out of the match day squad since Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on June 20th.
France Football earlier reported the 21-year-old was heard verbally attacking Brighton players, and this didn’t go down well with Arteta and the Gunners’ leadership.
Over a week ago, reports coming out of France explained that Barcelona are interested in midfielder and are ready to offer Philippe Coutinho as part of the deal.
These claims were dismissed by Mundo Deportivo on July 22nd.
Foot Mercato carried a report on the Arsenal player over the weekend and explained the La Liga side are ‘pushing’ to sign Arteta’s man.
They further added the Catalan club, who are keen on offloading Coutinho, are ready to allow the Brazil international to join the Premier League side, if they can recover Guendouzi and €50m in return.
Mundo Deportivo journalist Miguel Rico makes it clear that it’s ‘still no’ from Barca.
Rico adds the Camp Nou side’s position on the Arsenal midfielder ‘has not changed’ because Barcelona are ‘not interested’ in him.
It looks like Guendouzi’s camp is pushing him towards Barca, but those in charge at the Spanish club have once again dismissed any possibility of signing the former Lorient man.
