Napoli are sending confident messages out to their local media about the price tags for Kalidou Koulibaly and Allan.
The club’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis is on record claiming a €105m offer for the defender arrived last summer, and the Italian media were then told that offer was from Manchester United.
That’s reiterated in Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, and it’s claimed the Red Devils remain interested in the defender. PSG and Manchester United have ‘returned’ to the prospect of signing the Napoli player, and ‘could go all the way’ this time.
Napoli want a minimum of €100m for Koulibaly, and €60m for Allan.
It’s got to be considered unlikely they’d get either, and this all feels like an effort from De Laurentiis to push the prices higher than what is realistic.
Corriere even report they’ve been told Everton offered €50m for Allan in the January transfer window, which seems very unlikely.
Given Koulibaly is 28 years of age, and Allan is 29, Napoli are going to have to face reality and bring the prices down.
Despite the insistence of Manchester United being ready to pounce, central defence really isn’t an area the club need to spend €60-80m on this summer.
