It’s the day after the transfer deadline, a slow news day, and still, Moussa Marega continues to be linked to Premier League sides.

Even though Newcastle United and West Ham were never claimed to be in talks or to have made a bid for the striker, there was always a mention to these clubs during the summer.

And today, newspaper Record brings a story saying the English door ‘has been closed’ to Marega, who was looking forward to a transfer to the Premier League.

The outlet writes that Newcastle and West Ham ‘were the main interested’ clubs, but none of them made formal bids to sign the 28-year-old.

Porto were demanding only €30m for Marega, making him cheap by current market standards, but that still wasn’t enough to convince Premier League sides to go for him.

The striker had 21 goals and 11 assists for Porto last season, and turning 29 next year, his dream of joining English football becomes even more unlikely.
