For a very long time, Manchester United have been linked with a move for Sergej Milinković-Savić.

This has happened for a number of summers, mostly because Paul Pogba was linked with a move away, and with year being the one the Frenchman’s contract at Old Trafford expires, everything started up again.

In fact, there have been a number of reports that an offer from Manchester United was made for the Serbian, but it wasn’t deemed enough to convince Lazio to sell their star.

And, to this day, according to Il Tempo, that bid has been the sole received for Milinković-Savić by the Serie A side.

The newspaper have a big article on how the player could now stay in Rome, claiming that ‘to date, the only offer that has arrived is of €55m from Manchester United’.

With Lazio now wanting somewhere along the lines of €90m for their all purpose midfielder, there is quite a margin to make up.

Add to all this the fact Erik ten Hag seems more inclined on pursuing the likes of Frenkie de Jong, and perhaps this could be an early death to the 2022 Sergej Milinković-Savić rumours.

However, never write off Manchester United or the Italian media when it comes to all this.
