In the past few days, many reports in the Italian media showed pessimism regarding the chance of Serie A clubs landing Lucas Torreira from Arsenal. The reason for that was his advanced talks to join Turkish side Galatasaray.
However, a new report from SampNews24 now brings some hope for the Italian clubs interested in the 26-year-old.
The outlet writes that Torreira has ‘asked for time to better reflect’ on Galatasaray’s offer, which is said to be worth €3m net per season. It’s said that after leaving Arsenal, the player would rather stay in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Sampdoria’s chances of signing the player ‘remain alive’. The Gunners are said to be fine with a €7m offer, and the Serie A side would now to find an agreement with the midfielder himself.
Torreira had already spent last season on loan at Fiorentina, so it’s no surprising that after confirming the departure from Arsenal, he’d prioritise his stay in Italy instead of joining and adapting to a new league by moving to Galatasaray.
