Sergio Reguilón was again left out of Tottenham Hotspur’s squad for their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

During the tie at the City Ground, Atlético Madrid’s Renan Lodi was spotted in the stands as he will join the Tricky Trees on loan deal with an option to buy.

The Brazilian’s exit from the La Liga side will open the door for them to make an approach for the Tottenham player. After letting Lodi move to the Premier League, Marca on Monday say the ‘next step’ for Los Rojiblancos is to sign Reguilón.

It’s claimed Diego Simeone’s side are expecting the Spain international to arrive on a loan deal and without any purchase obligation. The report states Antonio Conte’s man is ‘expected’ to arrive in Madrid today.

The ex-Real Madrid will carry out his medical examinations the Navarra Clinic tomorrow and then sign a contract with Atlético.

With Reguilón set to complete a move to the Metropolitano, he will join a list of players with past Real Madrid connections who have made the switch. Simone shared his views on this topic.

“Juanfran had passed through Real Madrid and Filipe too and they are the history of the club. Álvaro [Morata] is doing extraordinarily well, [Mario] Hermoso gave a lot in the title [win], [Marcos] Llorente destroyed it… I see them as football players,” Simone pointed out.
