Manchester City are owned by the City Football Group and in the past few years, they have added several clubs to their stable.
Lommel SK became one of their additions in 2020 when the Citizens’ owners acquired a majority stake in the Belgian club.
On Wednesday, Lommel confirmed the arrival of Japanese forward Koki Saito from Yokohama FC. The latter’s city rivals, Yokohama F Marinos, are owned by the City Football Group.
Het Belang van Limburg have conducted an interview with the 19-year-old, which is covered in today’s edition of newspaper.
The player remains hopeful his arrival in Europe can help him fulfil his dream of playing for Manchester City. He revealed his desire to play for the Premier League club when asked if he feels like a player of Lommel or the City Football Group.
“My first goal is to play well for my new club and then I will see further. The big dream is Manchester City. I have a lot of confidence in my dribbling and hope to stand out with as many goals as possible and then take it one step higher, also with the national team,” Saito said.
“I have no idols, but I enjoy Messi’s and Neymar’s dribbles. Like them, I want to become a defining player for my new club. As a painter, my father is creative with his hands and me with my feet (laughs).”
Saito arrives in Belgium after managing three goals and three assists in 32 matches for Yokohama FC. He needs to do much better at Lommel if he is to fulfil his dream of joining Manchester City.
