This week, we’ve seen reports from Brazil claiming Botafogo gave up on signing Manchester United star Edinson Cavani because they were ignored by his agent.
It was written that following initial talks with the player’s brother and representative Walter Guglielmone, the Rio de Janeiro side placed an official contract offer and never heard back from him.
Now as journalist Jorge Nicola shares on YouTube an update on the Manchester United player, he claims that this behaviour is actually one being repeated by the agent.
He claims that Grêmio, Corinthians, Palmeiras and Botafogo all had the same issue, with Guglielmone first speaking with all of them and giving them hope of a potential deal.
Then when they make the offer, he ‘disappears’.
Jorge Nicola claims it’s more likely that Cavani stays in Europe, where he could perhaps play in Spain, and has previously been linked to Atletico Madrid.
Despite his wish to return to South America and be closer to Uruguay, ‘everything indicates’ it will still take a while until he does it.
With his contract with Manchester United expiring this summer, he’s set to join any club for free.
