After being mentioned by Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday, Lazio’s interest in Huddersfield Town’s Florent Hadergjonaj has been picked up by Il Messaggero.

The local Italian newspaper look at their club’s situation when it comes to the last two days of the transfer window and confirm the interest in the Switzerland international.

However, they do point out he ‘corresponds’ more to their ‘famous profile’ for a June transfer rather than January, with a value set at around €7m.

Considering how much the Terriers have used Hadergjonaj this season, a winter transfer did seem like a long shot.

There was some hope for Lazio that Jan Siewert might not get along with the Swiss defender after he was left out of the 3-0 loss to Manchester City, but the new manager’s decision to start the 24-year-old against Everton on Tuesday night stopped that in its tracks.

A June transfer does seem like a far better opportunity for Lazio, and the way things are going for Huddersfield, with relegation a very likely prospect, they might even get him at a cheaper price.
