This week, Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite was linked to a move to Benfica.
Reports from the English media claimed that the 20-year-old, who’s currently having a loan at PSV, is on a list of potential signings for the Eagles this summer.
It turns out that as Portuguese newspaper O Jogo cover the story today, they actually come up to turn down that rumour.
The outlet writes that according to their learning, Benfica are actually not targeting the Everton player for the next transfer window.
The Toffees should therefore be more safe about the future of Branthwaite, who’s been drawing attention from clubs after the season he’s been having in the Netherlands.
When loaned at the start of the season, the centre-back was valued by Transfermarkt at €3m, and that has now grown to €7m.
With Everton in a delicate situation in the Premier League table, the best thing they can do is to focus on the end of the season and only then plan on how to act in the transfer market.
Branthwaite’s contract with the Toffees runs until 2025, and is expected to return to Goodison Park when the current campaign ends.
