Chelsea midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko would be interested in a move to Sevilla, although the player is pushing for it more than the club at this moment in time.
Bakayoko is currently spending the year on loan at Monaco, having joined his former club from Chelsea in the summer.
They have an option to make his move a permanent one but are unlikely to take it up, leaving the Frenchman’s future in the air this summer.
A move to Sevilla has been mooted, with several reports indicating the Spanish side were keen and that director of football Monchi had already started discussions.
Estadio Deportivo cover the situation today and explain what’s really going on behind the scenes, having been in contact with Bakayoko’s ‘legal office’ and his brother, who is also his agent.
They claim that rather than Monchi making a move for Bakayoko, it is the midfielder who has offered himself to Monchi.
This makes sense as Sevilla do not need a defensive midfielder at this point; however, it does not mean Bakayoko is not a footballer they’re interested in.
According to his entourage “Sevilla knows Bakayoko very well, and there is interest in him for many years” and he “likes La Liga and Sevilla”.
He was close to moving there from Chelsea last season before ending up at AC Milan, while he was also offered to Sevilla last summer for a loan deal worth €5m with a €30m buy clause.
This, Estadio say, is further proof that the relationship between Bakayoko and Sevilla is ‘more on the side of the Frenchman’ than those in Nervion.
Nonetheless, the capacity for a transfer is there, although perhaps Sevilla would have to move someone on first before pushing for it.
