Having lost Simon Kjaer for the rest of the season, Milan are keen to sign a centre-back in the January transfer window
The name at the top of the list has been Sven Botman for quite some time, but Lille aren’t interested in selling him, which is why other options are being looked at.
Among those, according to at least three outlets in Italy, is Eric Bailly, who is contracted to Manchester United and currently with the Ivory Coast squad at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Gazzetta dello Sport are the ones providing the most information on the matter, explaining that the centre-back ‘has already been approached in the past’.
The idea of signing him now ‘comes back’, since Milan now really need a player like him, especially with him being out of favour these days at Manchester United, featuring just seven times across all competitions.
It’s not said how much he would cost nor whether it would be a loan or a permanent transfer, but the interest is there, which is also backed up by Calciomercato and Corriere della Sera, who mention him among the Botman alternatives Paolo Maldini is targeting.
One to keep an eye on.
