Earlier this week we covered a report that Anderlecht had filed a complaint with FIFA over Nottingham Forest and their failed move for Harry Toffolo.
The left-back was set to join the Belgian side at the end of the winter window, having barely featured under Steve Cooper in the first half of the season.
Anderlecht were happy to take him and a deal was seemingly done before it was cancelled last minute by Nottingham Forest, something the Belgian side criticised them for.
That looked to be the end of it but a report this week indicated they’ve taken their frustration to FIFA and are, seemingly, looking for compensation on how they’ve been treated.
Het Nieuwsblad, via Voetbal Nieuws, cover the situation today and explain what Anderlecht’s complaint is in detail.
They explain that an agreement for Toffolo ‘was on the table’ between Anderlecht and Nottingham Forest in Belgium and the defender had even been in Belgium for ‘several days’ ahead of completing the switch.
The Reds cancelled the deal on deadline day, though, citing that Omar Richards’ injury recovery was taking longer than expected and letting Toffolo leave would have left them short of cover.
Anderlecht ‘absolutely did not agree’ with this and sent a complaint to FIFA, accusing Nottingham Forest of failing to sign a ‘validated agreement’ despite having ‘email traffic’ showing that they had agreed to the terms of the loan deal.
In addition to that, the Belgian dies ‘does not consider’ Richards’ injury recovery as a ‘legally valid reason’ to void a deal once it has been made.
Hence their complain to FIFA, which is currently being looked at by the government body and ‘pending’ with them.
