Salernitana are keen to sign Pape Matar Sarr in the winter market and their interest in the Tottenham Hotspur player has already been confirmed by their sporting director, Morgan De Sanctis.
The Senegal international joined Spurs in the summer of 2021 and made his first team debut earlier this month when he came off the bench against Aston Villa.
Since then, he featured against Crystal Palace and made his first start for Tottenham in their FA Cup win over Portsmouth.
The midfielder’s failure to get minutes in 2022 convinced the Serie A side to make an attempt to take him on a dry loan deal. That’s according to Tutto Salernitana, who explain his transfer is ‘no longer so obvious’ after he started against Portsmouth.
However, De Sanctis will ‘try again’ to convince Antonio Conte’s side to send Pape Matar Sarr on loan this month.
La Città di Salerno explain the Italian club’s priority in January is to sign a midfielder and a winger. For the former, their ‘dream remains’ Pape Matar Sarr, but Conte has decided to focus on him.
Salernitana are ready to wait for the Tottenham player and are ‘trying to convince’ the north London club to sanction a loan deal until the end of this season.
It’ll be interesting to see where Sarr will play beyond this window.
