Anderlecht are interested in signing Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha, according to Het Belang van Limburg.
The 21-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at Preston North End, VfL Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough.
He struggled for regular playing time [only one league start] at Wolfsburg in the first half of the season, which is why the forward’s loan stay was cut short and he was allowed to join Boro.
There was not much improvement in the situation with the Championship side, and he made just four league starts.
The Germany U21 international failed to score a goal last season, but that’s not stopped the Jupiler Pro League side in making an approach for him.
Anderlecht signed Landry Dimata from Wolfsburg in 2018. Despite failing to score a goal for the Bundesliga side, he has impressed for the Belgian club.
Vincent Kompany’s side remain hopeful that Nmecha can replicate Dimata’s goalscoring form.
It’s claimed Anderlecht’s loan deal to sign the City owned player is ‘almost complete’ and ‘would not be expensive’.
The attacker had options to move to Spain and Germany, but he’s preferred to join Anderlecht because of Kompany’s ‘project’.
The newspaper further explains Nmecha is expected to join Anderlecht on a loan deal without a purchase option.
