According to a claim in the German media, Union Berlin have yet to officially announce the arrival of Ken Reichel from Frankfurt because Birmingham City have yet to close a deal for Kristian Pedersen.

Pedersen has been linked with the Championship side in recent weeks.

Liga-Zwei.de have reported on the latest developments with regards to Pedersen’s proposed move to Birmingham City. It’s claimed because the Dane hasn’t yet joined the English club, Union Berlin will not announce the signing of Reichel as they don’t want to be overcrowded in the left back position.

Last weekend Reichel had his medical with the Bundesliga 2 club and it was expected he would become a Union Berlin player. However, it seems Birmingham City are delaying this due to their situation with Pedersen.

With Pedersen entering into the final year of his contract with the German club, Birmingham City would be able to sign him for just €2.5m.
