Celta Vigo have identified West Bromwich Albion star Josh Maja as a target to strengthen their attack in the winter market.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who state the La Liga side are ‘seriously considering’ signing a striker in January.
Iago Aspas is leading their attack, but the 37-year-old’s deal lasts until next summer and hasn’t made progress with the renewal. Therefore, the Spanish club are working on the possibility of replacing him and the West Brom star is an option.
Maja has starred for the Baggies this season, managing nine goals and an assist from 15 Championship matches. This has seen him attract interest from other clubs, including Celta Vigo.
The Nigeria international’s contract lasts until 2026 and Transfermarkt currently values him at €3.2m. He’s an ‘important’ part of the West Brom squad and they aren’t willing to let him leave on the cheap, especially when they are fighting for promotion.
It’s claimed Carlos Corberán’s side won’t let the frontman leave for less than €20m. Celta Vigo will face competition, but the report says they ‘would be willing’ to meet West Brom’s demands to sign the 25-year-old in the winter market.
