Atlético Madrid are ‘working’ on a deal for Leicester City defender Caglar Söyüncü as he gears up to leave Leicester City on a free transfer in the summer.

That’s according to Marca, who say Atlético chiefs Miguel Ángel Gil and Andrea Berta are already planning for the end of the season.

The newspaper explains that the Spanish side are beginning to assemble their squad for next season and they plan to build from the back, signing a centre back and two full-backs to start their business.

Söyüncü has already been targeted as the player to fill the need for the former, with the La Liga side having ‘committed’ him in the January transfer window.

His contract at Leicester expires in the summer and he has been free to negotiate with clubs over a pre-contract agreement since January under the Bosman rule.

Atlético have already done the groundwork to ensure it is they who win the race and the plan is that he will complete the list of their central defenders next season.

He will be the only player to arrive in that position this summer, unless the club receive a succulent offer for one of their players and need to enter the market again.

That is yet to happen, though, and at this point the Leicester man will be the only one to arrive, with a free transfer already set up.
