Werder Bremen are working to keep forward Justin Njinmah out of Everton and Wolves’ clutches this summer as the Premier League duo both show an interest in him.

That’s according to BILD, who say the 23-year-old is very much in Everton and Wolves eyeline and Werder Bremen are aware of it.

The newspaper reports that Njinmah has earned attention from the Premier League duo after his performances this season, which saw him finish as Werder’s second-highest goal scorer in the Bundesliga with six goals.

He finished the season with six goals and two assists in 24 games in total, despite only playing 33% of the available minutes due to injury issues.

Everton and Wolves have noticed that and could be keen, something the German side are determined to ward off if director Clemens Fritz’s comments are anything to go by.

“We are in regular contact with his agency and will certainly intensify the discussions. That could also be something for the summer break,” he said.

“Basically, Justin still has a contract, and we are very interested in extending it. We are in good talks, but there is no time frame.”

Whether that is enough to scare off Everton or Wolves remains to be seen, although BILD do add that a transfer this summer ‘would not be an option’ anyway as the player signed a new deal last year that runs until 2026.

Such matters have never stopped Premier League clubs in the past, of course, but it seems Fritz is determined to ward them off in any way possible here.
