Juventus are ‘working on’ a deal to sign Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to journalist Nicolo Ceccarini, who says the Italian giants are trying to sign the Brazilian centre-back.
The Italian side are planning something of a rebuild this summer, with Paulo Dybala’s departure on a free transfer opening up significant funds in the wage budget.
Improving their defence is likely to be a part of that, with Leonardo Bonucci 35-years-old and Giorgio Chiellini 37.
In fact, the average age of the defence at the club is currently 29-years-old, something that stands in stark contrast to their midfield and forward line, which have an average age of 24.
Bringing that number down would make sense, and it seems they’ve set their sights on Arsenal’s Gabriel.
As part of a conversation with TMW Radio today, relayed by Area Napoli, Ceccarini claimed that ‘the Bianconeri are working for Gabriel from Arsenal’ as part of a conversation about Juventus’ plans this summer.
That’s all he offers on the subject at this point, so we’ll have to take it with a huge pinch of salt for the time being.
Gabriel has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer, but it has consistently been Barcelona who have been linked with a move, not Juventus.
The defender is certainly on the radar of Italian clubs, having been linked to Napoli before his move to the Emirates, and at 24-years-old he would certainly fit into the idea of Juventus signing younger players.
Arsenal are unlikely to want to let him go, though, and given the shortage of information, we’ll wait for more on this before getting too excited.
