Serie B new boys Pisa are continuing to work on a deal to sign Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci, according to claims in Italy. The Italian side joined the race to sign Bellusci earlier this month, but a deal could be complicated.
Il Tirreno have today reported Pisa are looking to strengthen their squad this summer after their promotion from Lega Pro to Serie B. A number of players have been linked with Pisa, including options to bolster in defence, and Bellusci is a strong candidate at the Tuscan club.
However, Pisa face competition from other clubs to sign Bellusci with Ascoli, Torino, Bologna and Empoli all showing an interest in the central defender.
Ascoli would be a desired move for Bellusci after he came through their youth system, although a chance to play in Serie A could be tempting
The 26-year-old had his problems last season, and has recently been linked with a move back to his home country. Yesterday it was revealed the player didn’t return to pre-season training with Leeds United because he needed to remain in Italy for family reasons.
