Without any serious articles on the matter for the past week or so, we thought the Italian media might have forgotten about Luis Suárez and Lazio’s interest in his services.
Thankfully, Corriere dello Sport are here to remedy the situation with an article on the matter, reminding what has happened in the past and explaining what could happen in the future.
If you’ve forgotten, we’ll give you a brief recap: the Watford striker is on loan at Real Zaragoza, has done very well, has caught the attention of Lazio, who want to sign him this summer and have already got him to agree to a contract of €1.5m/year for the next five seasons.
They’ve been helped in their endeavours by Suárez’s agency, who also represent Luis Alberto and Jony, and the next step will be to convince the Hornets.
As things stand, Lazio ‘won’t offer more than €20m’, ideally in a deal worth €15m up front plus bonuses, and with the striker’s agent going to Rome ‘in the next few weeks’ to formalise the contract renewal of Luis Alberto, it will be a great time to also talk about the Watford man.
We’ll have to wait and see, but if the representative does travel to the capital, and the Serie A side are as interested in the Colombian as they are made out to be, it would be foolish to think his situation won’t be discussed, however briefly it might be.
Then again, with La Liga2, Serie A and the Premier League still to be finished, we also doubt anything concrete will happen until the season is officially over.
