Since Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick insisted he wants Edinson Cavani to stay at the club until the end of the season, the rumours about the striker’s future calmed a little.

The Brazilian media gave big coverage to the coach’s quotes, as it seemed that Corinthians would no longer have a chance to sign the 34-year-old in January.

However, in a couple of updates, it’s claimed that the Timão are still hopeful they can land Cavani, and are patiently waiting for him.

One of the stories comes from Lance. It’s said the Uruguayan star still did not respond to Corinthians’ offer.

The Brazilian side are said to have Cavani as the ‘big dream’ for the 2022 season, but they continue to wait ‘cautiously and patiently’.

Meanwhile, Gazeta Esportiva brings a similar story. They say Corinthians ‘still do not rule out the signing’, as Rangnick’s quotes did not make the club back off.

It’s recalled that when speaking to Cavani’s brother in December, they heard everything would be decided in January. So they continue to ‘wait for a sign to take the next step’.

Corinthians’ hope is that the striker will rescind his contract with Manchester United and move to Brazil for free.
