Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs to have shown interest in Celta Vigo youngster David Vilán.
According to AS, the 17-year-old has been attracting interest from Spurs and Real Madrid, but both sides are set to miss out on his signing.
That’s because Atlético Madrid are ahead in chasing the attacking midfielder.
Los Rojiblancos continue to take ‘giant steps’ to strengthen their academy, and the newspaper adds the teenager is the latest ‘jewel that has signed’ to bolster Atlético’s U19 squad.
AS states Celta view Vilán as a ‘versatile footballer who adapted easily to various attacking positions and with tremendous speed’.
He came to train with Celta’s reserves and the first team ‘several times’ and the Vigo based club tried to retain the young player, but it was ‘very difficult for them’.
It’s claimed Atlético wanted the talented youngster, who has represented Spain at U16 and U17 level, at all costs, and they have ‘won the battle’ against Real Madrid and Tottenham to sign Vilán.
Real Madrid and Tottenham were ‘interested in incorporating’ the young talent, but according to AS, Atlético look set to seal Vilán’s transfer.
