Portuguese side Sporting will keep insisting on signing Tiago Ilori from Reading, newspaper Record writes today.
On Wednesday, it had been claimed that despite the verbal agreement with the player, it would be hard to get him as the Lions didn’t want to increase the offer and Reading wouldn’t lower the demands.
However, the outlet now says that the clubs should sit down to negotiate again very soon, as Sporting are really focused on signing the defender.
Reading have reportedly rejected an initial €1.5m bid from the Portuguese side, and are demanding €3m for the sale.
Sporting are said to be ready to increase their offer, and that’s when things should have some real updates.
Signed from Liverpool on a €4.3m deal in January 2017, Ilori has 62 appearances for Reading. He spent a few years at Sporting’s academy, and that’s probably among the reasons he’s keen on returning to his old club.
