Brought in on loan following Thomas Partey going the other way, Lucas Torreira isn’t having the time of his life at Atlético Madrid.

While the Ghanaian, when fit, has been key to Arsenal since his move to the Emirates, his Uruguayan counterpart has failed to make the most of his opportunity under Diego Simeone in Spain, making just six appearances in the league since the start of the campaign.

That’s included just one 19 minute cameo in the past five games, leading many to believe his loan could be cut short this month in search for a club who could guarantee him more minutes.

Fiorentina, already interested in the summer, could be that team, as La Nazione explain the interest from Cesare Prandelli’s side seems ‘more pronounced than Torino’s’ and ‘work will be done in the next few hours to reach an agreement that suits everyone regarding the permanent purchase of the player’.

While that sounds exciting, it’s also made clear Arsenal would be open to an initial loan, so we’re looking at a temporary deal initially with a clause included.

If the numbers they’re working on eventually get released, we’ll let you know as soon as we see them.
