Following reports on Thursday breaking the news about Nottingham Forest’s interest in Vitória Guimarães goalkeeper Bruno Varela, the Portuguese media is today back with some updates on that pursuit.
The biggest story comes from newspaper A Bola, who says the player entered the Reds’ ‘radar’ as a solution for Dean Henderson’s injury.
It’s said even though Varela’s contract with Vitória still has one and a half year left, a renewal isn’t on track.
That’s why the transfer to Nottingham Forest could guarantee a good income for the club.
A Bola writes that the Reds are ‘analysing the market’, and Varela is in a shortlist they have. His time at Benfica and Ajax is said to be something that plays on his side, as well as his quality.
There are those, however, who believe nothing is going on, at least not yet.
That’s the case of newspaper O Jogo, who learned that no approaches or offers were made by Nottingham Forest so far.
Varela, who’s 28, is currently valued by Transfermakrt at €4m, and according to Record, Vitória will want a ‘significative amount’ to let him go.
