One of the growing stories in Italy in the last week is that Mario Pasalić is living his last days as a Chelsea player.
We say Chelsea player as he’s been contracted to the Stamford Bridge side since 2014, but in six years with the club, he hasn’t made one first-team appearance for them.
Currently on an 18-month loan with Atalanta, the Croatian midfielder has impressed with the Serie A side, which has led them to agree to make the deal permanent.
They can do so for €15m thanks to a pre-agreed option to buy, but that doesn’t mean they are automatically going to pay that.
According to Calciomercato.it, Atalanta ‘will try and snatch a discount’ if they can, meaning they’ll attempt to negotiate with CHelsea to see if they can get the player cheaper.
However, if they don’t succeed, the Italians ‘will invest the expected amount’.
The website believe more news is expected ‘between the end of the current month and the beginning of the next’.
