After struggling in his debut season at West Ham United, Nikola Vlašić joined Torino on a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer, and he has had a good start to the campaign, managing three goals from six games.
In the summer of 2021, the Italian club took Josip Brekalo from VfL Wolfsburg on loan with an option to buy.
Despite their firm desire to sign him on a permanent deal, they were unable to retain Brekalo.
Tuttosport state the Turin club want to avoid repeating the same mistake with the West Ham owned player.
It’s explained Torino ‘will start negotiations’ with both David Moyes’ side and the Croatia international’s agent between December and January.
The timing is the key to conclude the operation, because, come the end of the winter market, Torino would have a better understanding of West Ham’s position on getting a discount for an early redemption.
Prior to taking this step, they must close an agreement with the player.
That shouldn’t be an issue considering the Turin club have already made him sign a contract until 2027 and it will come into effect if his loan move is made permanent.
This was done mainly due to their good relationship with his agent.
Tuttosport end their report by stating. ‘They are human, professional relationships and pacts are based on already signed contracts, not house of cards. This is why it deserved to reveal these background as of now. Waiting, as for the destiny of the Croatian [Brekalo], for a first pit stop between Turin and Nikola already in December.’
