According to a claim in the Turkish media, Fenerbahce haven’t given up in their pursuit of Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the Super Lig giants in recent days following reports they’d tabled an offer for the player.
We covered comments made by Fenerbahce vice-president Acun Ilıcalı, in which he revealed they were in transfer talks to sign the former Bournemouth man, and were looking to reach an agreement with the Premier League side.
However, claims yesterday in the UK media said Newcastle United had rejected the offer, and the bid from Fener and was reportedly in the region of £6m.
Sabah today report on the latest developments regarding the Istanbul side’s interest in Kelly and say the Super Lig club will now ‘revise the offer’.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to bring in a left-sided defender in this window and Kelly is still as an ideal candidate given, he can play in central defence and at left back.
With Ferdi Kadıoğlu joining Brighton in the summer and a long-term injury to Jayden Oosterwolde, Mourinho is desperate to address the issues in these positions.
Kelly has made 13 appearances for Newcastle United this season and is contracted to the Magpies until June 2029.
