Juventus are set to return to Chelsea ‘in the coming days’ over a potential deal for Romelu Lukaku, ‘hoping’ to convince the Blues on a deal that suits all parties.
That’s according to journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who says Juventus have not given up hope of getting the Belgian before the end of the transfer window.
Lukaku has returned to Chelsea this summer following a loan move to Inter Milan but is not a part of the Blues plans moving forwards, with Mauricio Pochettino even reportedly keeping away from first team training.
The idea had been that he would join Inter on a permanent basis but that is no longer possible after they became enraged at the player’s decision to talk to Juventus, something which they saw as a betrayal.
The Italian giants are also looking at a deal for Lukaku and have even been exploring a swap deal involving striker Dusan Vlahovic heading to Stamford Bridge.
That move has not come to fruition yet, though, with the two sides disagreeing on the sums involved given the relative values of the two players.
It seems that doesn’t mean Juventus have given up on Lukaku just yet, though, and are instead planning a return to talks with Chelsea.
“Vlahovic-Lukaku? It is still standing because Lukaku is a problem for Chelsea like Bonucci, he trains separately. He has no shirt number,” the journalist reported.
“Chelsea always hope to be able to give him to Saudi Arabia when the transfer market ends, but I know that Juventus continues to think about Lukaku and will try to convince Chelsea in the next few days.
“It is a passion of Allegri but also of the club, there are technical and economic reasons because Vlahovic’s contract is to scale and Lukaku would get less and in this way, he would make a capital gain.”
