Carney Chukwuemeka is going through a process of being linked with clubs from around Europe, as Aston Villa work to secure a renewal.

Last month saw claims that Borussia Dortmund were working to sign him, potentially getting him for free next summer. These claims were quickly dismissed by media outlets close to the Bundesliga club, and then the rumours moved on to other sides.

Saturday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has an article on the Aston Villa youngster, and it’s stated Barcelona have been following him for several months, however, they ‘will not enter an auction’ for the 18-year-old.

Xavi Hernandez has given his approval to the signing, as long as it’s feasible for Barcelona’s finances. What is feasible or not for the Catalan club’s economy seems to change by the day, with them spending like they’re using someone else’s credit card.

Barca have ‘other priorities’ and are aware, likely via agents, there’s widespread interest in the Aston Villa player.

The suggestion is they’d consider the signing for a bargain fee but won’t tussle with others.
