As Fernandinho gets closer to the end of his contract with Manchester City and wonders where he’ll play next, many Brazilian clubs become interested in his signing.
The latest side to join that list are Botafogo, who according to Transfers24hr on Twitter, are now interested in landing the midfielder as well.
It’s claimed the Rio de Janeiro side will ‘go strong’ and ‘try to close’ his signing in the summer window.
With that, Botafogo joins a list of interested clubs which have been reported in the past few weeks. That includes the likes of Athletico, Atletico Mineiro, Corinthians and Flamengo.
Several reports from Brazil have been claiming that Fernandinho’s preference is for Athletico, since that’s where he started his career. His family has also shown support for that choice. However, other clubs in Brazil can offer him more money and a more interesting project, so that may weigh on his decision as well.
For now, the player continues to be focused on Manchester City, where he has a contract running until June and a couple of titles to fight for.
