Schalke shouldn’t be completely without hope against Manchester City in the Champions League this week.

Pep Guardiola’s side got themselves a 3-2 victory in Germany and whilst they’re very much the favourites, and would be even if the scores were level, the UEFA competition has shown it can spring up a surprise occasionally.

Despite that, Bild report Schalke will field something which looks like a ‘B-Team’ against City at the Etihad on Tuesday evening.

Manager Domenico Tedesco is under huge pressure and knows if he doesn’t get good results domestically soon then his job is gone.

Currently 14th in the table, and absolutely not completely clear of relegation fears, the club are going through one of their regular crisis periods.

Bild say that players such as Amine Harit and Hamza Mendyl, recently left out of the squad due to ‘mentality’ issues, could line up against Manchester City.

The threat of a battering against the Premier League club and the physical and psychological damage that could do is presented as a worry, with the club set to face RB Leipzig four days later.

It sounds risky for Tedesco, because a hammering could surely also be a trigger to sack him.
